In early 2004, during pile driving on the Wilson Bridge project, ceilings in the Hunting Terrace Apartments began to crack, loosen, and fall. When the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), owners of Hunting Terrace, became aware of the problem, Chesapeake Finishing, Inc. became a key part of the solution.
VDOT halted construction activity near Hunting Terrace and made plans to repair all 116 units, 100 of them occupied. To avoid impacting bridge costs and schedules, the repairs had to be done quickly.
Because of our reputation, Grady Management selected Chesapeake Finishing, Inc. to do these critical repairs.
Each project phase, involving six to twelve apartments, had to be completed in five days.
- On Day 1 residents were relocated to temporary quarters and their personal property professionally packed and stored on site.
- On Days 2, 3, and 4, Chesapeake Finishing, Inc. demoed, installed drywall, taped, blocked, and finished all ceilings, then primed and painted each apartment.
- On Day 5, the apartments were cleaned, residents’ belongings were moved back, and the residents returned to their apartments.
